Having a designated cot to set up at your destination can make planning an overnight trip more manageable, particularly when you need to organise both sleeping space and luggage before leaving home.
The Smooth Animals has a double-height setup for the earliest stage, an 8 kg product weight and an open size of 73 x 65 x 125 cm. Its animal-themed design gives this travel cot its own character. The lower cot remains the main sleeping area when the raised stage is no longer permitted. A folded size of 22 x 78 x 22 cm helps you plan where it will travel or be stored.
A travel cot is useful when you know where the baby will sleep before arriving. Measure the available room and leave enough space around the assembled cot for access and ventilation. Keep the cot away from cords, heaters and other hazards. Assemble it at home first so you understand the locking sequence and can identify every supplied component before packing for the journey.
Use the supplied padded base exactly as the instructions describe. A travel cot base can feel firmer than an adult mattress, but softness is not a reason to add unapproved padding. Do not introduce an additional mattress, pillow or folded blanket beneath the baby unless the cot manufacturer specifically approves the arrangement. Keep the sleep surface clear and use bedding that is appropriate to the cot and the child’s stage.
The compact fold and carry bag help keep the cot together for storage and travel. Pack it only when clean and dry, and make sure loose parts are secured according to the instructions. The wheels and brakes help an adult position the empty cot. Do not move it with a child inside. Before each use, check the frame, mesh, base and locks for damage or incorrect assembly.
The published main-cot weight range runs from birth to 15 kg, but developmental limits also apply. Stop use when the child reaches the stopping point in the instructions, even if they are still below the maximum weight. For a double-height model, the raised level has separate restrictions and must be removed when required. Never assume the raised level can be used up to the main cot’s headline weight limit.
